Convert HEIC to PNG Online

PNG uses lossless compression, meaning every pixel is stored exactly as-is. Use PNG when pixel-perfect reproduction, transparency, or further editing is the priority; for simple sharing where size matters, convert HEIC to JPG instead.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) was created in 1996 by a working group led by Thomas Boutell as a patent-free replacement for GIF after Unisys began enforcing its LZW patent on CompuServe's format. The W3C published it as a Recommendation in 1996 and ISO/IEC 15948 standardized it in 2003. PNG-24 added full alpha transparency that GIF's 1-bit mask could not match, and APNG (2008) later bolted on animation. Today PNG is the default screenshot format on macOS, Windows 11 Snipping Tool, and iOS, and it makes the perfect lossless landing pad for HEIC: decoding an iPhone photo to PNG preserves every pixel value the HEVC decoder produces, with no generational loss, at the cost of a much larger file.
